Arsenal playmaker Jack Wilshere says he has no plans to change his combative style despite his recent injury woes.
The Gunners midfielder saw his 2014-15 season heavily disrupted after undergoing ankle surgery and only started to get some game time under his belt towards the very end of the campaign.
There have been some suggestions that Wilshere should look to ride heavy challenges when they come in a perhaps change other aspects of his game to avoid injury.
However the 23-year-old is determined to stick to his style and hopes to imitate Barcelona greats Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta in the process.
He said: “When I was injured I read a few people who said that (change his style). I thought maybe they are right, maybe I should change it a little bit.
“As soon as I came back on my first game naturally I wanted to pick up the ball up and run with it, I can’t change that. I can work on a few things maybe.
“You look at your best dribblers in the world – Messi, Iniesta – they keep the ball very close to them so maybe that’s something I can work on but I definitely won’t be changing my game.”
The Gunners are 5.50 to win the Premier League title outright next season, while Chelsea can be backed at 2.50, Manchester City at 3.75 and Manchester United at 6.00.
