Arsene Wenger anticipates that Jack Wilshere will have a key role to play in Arsenal’s last six weeks of the season.
The 23-year-old has endured another injury-ravaged campaign but played in Tuesday’s reserve team win over Stoke City’s second string and could feature in Saturday’s Premier League clash at Burnley, a game the Gunners can be backed at 8.00 to win 1-0.
Abou Diaby and Mikel Arteta also featured in midweek and could return to first-team action against the Clarets, who are 1.66 to be relegated this season.
Everybody can have a big impact until the end of the season, Jack included.
Wenger said: “Diaby has been out for a year, Theo Walcott has been out for a year. Wilshere has played many games this year and, although he has been out, it was not for as long as Walcott or Diaby.
“Everybody can have a big impact until the end of the season, Jack included.”
Arsenal have won 17 of their last 20 matches in all competitions and Wenger has called for that kind of form to continue until the end of the campaign.
“This season we had many players out for four or five months after the World Cup and since we have found our cohesion with everybody back, we feel we have moved forward,” the Frenchman added.
“Chelsea have a difficult schedule, we have a difficult schedule. What we want is to go as high as we can until the end of the season, give our best and we are also in the semi-final of the FA Cup.”
Arsenal, 1.83 to win the FA Cup outright, will hand a late fitness test to Laurent Kosicelny, who has been struggling with a thigh problem, but goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is expected to be available following a rib injury.
