Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that his side’s excellent form in the last three months has come as a surprise to him.
The Gunners have won their last eight Premier League matches to move to within seven points of Chelsea and are now 26.00 to win the title.
They have also reached the FA Cup semi-finals, a competition Arsenal are 1.83 to win outright, with the only blot on their copybook being the Champions League exit to Monaco.
What people forgot is that we had big players out for four months this season.
Wenger said: “I always hope to get the best out of my team, but no manager in the world, if he is serious, can predict a run like this. In the Premier League it’s very difficult to predict.
“What people forgot is that we had big players out for four months this season, six or seven players from the squad were completely out. So that made a big difference.
“We have a better balance in the team and some players have made it like (Francis) Coquelin, who contributes to the balance of the team. Hector Bellerin as well has come into the team.”
Arsenal won 1-0 at Burnley on Saturday evening and face Championship side Reading at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals this weekend.
