Slaven Bilic replaced Sam Allardyce as West Ham boss in June.

West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian says they will not be able to use the humid conditions in Malta as an excuse if they crash out of the Europa League to Birkirkara.

Slaven Bilic’s side were only able to secure a 1-0 win in last week’s first leg at Upton Park, with James Tomkins grabbing the only goal of the encounter in the closing stages.

West Ham are available at 1.80 to keep a clean sheet in Thursday’s match and are 6.00 to win the encounter 2-0.

I have confidence in my team-mates but we need to be careful because Birkirkara are playing at home this time.

“For me it’s not a problem because I am adapted to this hot climate but I would tell them to just drink a lot of water and to take a cold shower before the game,” said 28-year-old Adrian, who was born in Seville and played for Real Betis before moving to West Ham two years ago.

“I have confidence in my team-mates but we need to be careful because Birkirkara are playing at home this time.”

West Ham began their Europa League campaign on 2nd July when they beat Andorran side Lusitanos 3-0 on home soil before winning the first qualifying round second leg clash 1-0 on week later.
