Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart insists the players are behind under-fire manager Manuel Pellegrini even after their Champions League exit.
Hart produced a series of magnificent saves against Barcelona on Wednesday but it was not enough to stop City slumping to a 1-0 defeat in the Nou Camp as the La Liga side eased to a 3-1 aggregate win in the last-16 encounter.
City have won just three of their last 12 games in all competitions, and Pellegrini’s future at the Etihad Stadium is in doubt as his side are now unlikely to win any silverware this season. They are 15.00 to win the Premier League title following last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Burnley.
We appreciate that if we don’t win everyone will be speculated about. You have to be strong inside.
Hart said: “We back our manager. He is a great manager and brought us two trophies last year – now we have nine games to win, and that’s what we hope to do.
“It’s always going to be the same at City, for all the players. We appreciate that if we don’t win everyone will be speculated about. You have to be strong inside.
“Even when we lose, even when I make mistakes, and it’s all my fault, I am still proud of my efforts, and of my team – and we will keep going.”
City entertain West Brom on Saturday lunchtime and are 9.50 to beat the Baggies 2-1, with Sergio Aguero, who missed a second-half penalty against Barcelona, 1.66 to score at any time against Tony Pulis’ side.
