Thiago Silva will miss the clash with Barcelona in the Camp Nou due to injury.

Paris St Germain’s hopes of mounting a Champions League quarter-final comeback at Barcelona have been hit by the news that Thiago Silva will miss the game in the Camp Nou.

The French outfit face a huge task as their attempt to reach the last four of the competition, having lost the first leg on home soil 3-1 to the Catalans giants.

We have nothing to lose and we hope to prove we are better than we were in the first leg.

And the mountain is a little higher, with captain Silva ruled out due to a thigh injury which forced him off during the first leg in the French capital, with the Brazil defender having originally been named in the PSG matchday squad.

Former Barca midfielder Thiago Motta also misses out due to a hamstring problem and Serge Aurier is suspended, but PSG will have another ex-Blaugrana man, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, back in the fold after a ban.

Italian midfielder Marco Verratti is also back in contention after suspension and PSG head coach Laurent Blanc is looking for a positive performance, even if he is well aware that the chances of progressing are slim.

He told reporters: “We know the task is extremely difficult. Our problem is that we have to score, but I do believe we will have plenty of chances to do so.

“We have nothing to lose and we hope to prove we are better than we were in the first leg.”

Meanwhile, Barca have confirmed that attacking midfielder Andres Iniesta has recovered from a pelvic injury sustained in the first leg in Paris and is back in contention for the return on Tuesday evening, having sat out the 2-0 weekend La Liga win over Valencia.

Barca can be backed at 1.44 to win the return leg in normal time and are 1.01 to reach the semi-finals, while the Catalans are available at 2.37 to be crowned European champions for the fifth time in their history.
