Bet 1: Internacional (HOME) @ 1.55 (11/20) – Available on Betfair Live Video at 23:30 BST
The first leg of this Copa Libertadores quarter-final tie finished 1-0 to Santa Fe but with home advantage tonight, Internacional will fancy their chances of earning a place in the last four.
The Brazilians have been excellent at Estádio Beira-Rio in recent times and they come into the match having won 10 of their last 11 outings there. Diego Aguirre’s side are four from four in this competition this season and that includes wins over Atletico Mineiro and Emelec.
Colombians, Santa Fe, have done well to progress this far but they have had quite a kind draw to date. Obviously they are in a good position having not conceded an away goal but their record away from home in the Libertadores hasn’t been too great historically. They have won at Atlas and Colo Colo this year, but this is a different test entirely and I can’t see them avoiding defeat on the night, even if they do end up progressing.
Bet 2: Sevilla (AWAY) @ 1.6 (6/10) – Live on ITV 4 at 19:45 BST
I have bent the rules slightly here as the Europa League Final is being played at a neutral venue but I couldn’t leave Sevilla out of this multiple and, technically, Poland is nearer to the Ukraine than it is to Spain.
Sevilla are looking to put their La Liga disappointment behind them after narrowly failing to secure a Champions League place for next season. All is not lost though as if they lift the trophy this evening, they will be in there with European club football’s elite in September.
Unai Emery’s men are aiming to claim back to back wins in this competition and they have looked a class act in it all year. They have already beaten Fiorentina, Villarreal and Borussia M’Gladbach both home and away in the knock out phase and the only blot on their copybook – if you can call it that – was drawing the away leg at Zenit after winning 2-1 in Spain.
Dnipro have done well to get this far but they haven’t had quite as stiff tasks as their opponents and their progress has been by fine margins. I think they will be outclassed this evening and I can’t see anything other than an ‘away’ win inside 90 minutes.
Bet 3: PAOK v Panathinaikos (Over 2.5 goals) @ 2.3 (13/10)
The Greek Super League is at their European play-off stage and Panathinaikos lead the way at the top of the four team group. PAOK are in second though – only four points behind – so if they can win this evening, the table will really tighten up.
It’s the goals that concern us however and the visitors have had some high-scoring matches recently. Four of their last seven have seen over 2.5 land – including two of their last three away – and they racked up four goals at Asteras Tripolis last week.
The stats don’t make quite as good reading for Giorgos Georgiadis’ men but they really need to go for the win this evening and that should lead to an open game. It is also worth noting that these two have met twice this term and Panathinaikos won both games – 4-3 and 1-2.
Bet 4: Cruzeiro v River Plate (Under 2.5 goals) @ 1.47 (40/85) – Available on Betfair Live Video at 02:00 BST
Brazilian champions, Cruzeiro, pulled off an excellent 1-0 win in Argentina last week to put them firmly in the driving seat for a place in the Copa Libertadores semi-finals.
With that lead under their belt, I can’t see anything other than a cautious approach from manager, Marcelo Oliveira. His players still aren’t quite firing on all cylinders anyway and they haven’t scored more than once in a game since April.
River Plate are another club who aren’t at their best this season but in fairness to them, they are still high up in their domestic league and aren’t out of this competition just yet.
It will take a heroic performance for them to progress and despite being a goal down, I would imagine that Marcelo Gallardo won’t panic and look to just stay in the tie going into the final 30 minutes or so of that match.
