Martin Skrtel has played down the injury he sustained during Liverpool’s FA Cup sixth-round draw with Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.

The Slovakia international had to receive several minutes of treatment before he was stretchered from the pitch with his neck in a brace, after suffering a heavy fall in the opening minutes of the goalless draw at Anfield.

Skrtel was replaced by Kolo Toure and there were fears at the time that the 30-year-old had sustained a serious injury.

I wanted to carry on but fair play to the physios, they didn’t let me – that’s the rules!

However, after the game, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers said the central defender was ‘fine’, although he would require a hospital visit as a precautionary measure.

Skrtel later wrote on his official Instagram account: “Everything is alright. I was unconscious for a bit but glad it is nothing serious.

After the goalless draw, Liverpool are 3.00 to win the FA Cup outright and 1.40 to not win a trophy this season.

The Reds, 2.10 to finish in the top four this season, face Swansea City in their next Premier League match on 16th March and can be backed at 8.00 to win the Liberty Stadium clash 1-0.
