Against All Odds: Hertha Berlin to continue their revival

Hertha Berlin v Borussia M’gladbach

A run of seven matches without a loss for Hertha Berlin was ended last weekend at Bayern Munich but it was only 1-0 and that can easily be forgiven. Those results have lifted them up to 13th in the table and while they are only four points clear of the bottom three, they do have a game in hand.

Opponents, Borussia M’gladbach, are battling it out with Bayer Leverkusen for third place and automatic qualification into the Champions League. They can’t finish any lower than fourth, but that would mean having to go through the qualifiers and they would obviously rather avoid that.

It’s understandable that the visitors are the favourites to take the victory but Lucien Favre’s side aren’t exactly bombproof on the road. It’s five wins from 15 away from home this term and a point today wouldn’t be the end of the world as they welcome Leverkusen to Borussia-Park next Saturday.

It’s also worth considering that while Pál Dárdai’s men are in the bottom half of the table, they are actually eighth in the form table and they’ve avoided defeat in nine of their 15 home fixtures this season. ‘The Old Lady’ have taken eight points from a possible 12 in front of their own fans of late and they still need another win or two to guarantee safety.

This has all the makings of a draw, so with the visitors trading at around the [1.99] mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
