Atletico Madrid have plugged the gap left by the departure of Mario Mandzukic to Juventus by signing Argentinian striker Luciano Vietto from Villarreal.
Vietto, who scored 12 goals for the Yellow Submarine in 32 La Liga appearances in his first season in Spain, has penned a five-year contract at the Vicente Calderon, having previously worked with Atleti coach Diego Simeone at Racing Club.
I hope to score as many goals as possible, but the most important thing is that Juventus do well and get the win.
He arrives in Madrid just as Mandzukic has completed a move to Italian champions and beaten Champions League finalists Juve.
The 29-year-old Croatia international joined Atleti from Bayern Munich a year ago and netted 12 goals in 27 appearances in La Liga as his side finished in third place in the table.
However, he has now opted for a fresh challenge in Serie A, despite his agent having recently suggested that he was not likely to leave Madrid this summer.
Mandzukic told his new club’s official website after signing a four-year contract: “I’m happy to be at a big club like Juventus.
“I’ve played against Juventus and Italy several times. I know them very well, they’re a tough team with great quality.
“I will try to slot in as quickly as possible. I hope to score as many goals as possible, but the most important thing is that Juventus do well and get the win.
“We have an excellent squad and an exceptional coach.”
Juventus can be backed at 1.57 to lift Lo Scudetto again next season, with Inter Milan 17.00 and AC Milan 11.00.
