Nigel Pearson predicts that Leicester City will need to win at least four of their last eight games if they are to avoid making an immediate return to the Championship.

The Foxes improved their chances of staying up by beating West Ham United last weekend, although they remain in grave danger of being relegated as Sunderland, and QPR also won.

Aston Villa and QPR then shared six goals at Villa Park on Tuesday, so Leicester are still six points away from safety.

Against West Ham, I think we got what we deserved.

However, Leicester’s run-in is comparatively easy, although they remain 1.33 to be relegated this term. They must face Sunderland and Burnley, as well as entertaining QPR on the final day of the season.

Leicester play a West Brom side this weekend that lost 4-1 at home to QPR in their last game. City can be backed at 17.00 to win the match 2-0, with David Nugent available at 3.75 to score at any time at The Hawthorns.

“I have had to sit in front of the press in games where I know we’ve played well, and I’ve had to talk about either defeats or draws,” said Pearson.

“Against West Ham, I think we got what we deserved, but we have got to do that maybe four or five times more between now and the end of the season, which is going to be a big ask.”
