Massimiliano Allegri has claimed midfielder Paul Pogba has told him he does not want to leave Juventus and insisted his club do not need to sell.

France international Pogba has emerged as one of the hottest properties in world football and a number of Europe’s powerhouse clubs have been credited with an interest in signing him.

“I’ve talked with Pogba and he’s told me he is happy to stay to Turin. He is young – I think he needs to remain with Juventus in order to grow.”

France legend Zinedine Zidane this week suggested it was “only natural” that Real Madrid are monitoring his progress and described the 22-year-old as “a complete player”, while Barcelona and Manchester City have also been linked.

Pogba signed a contract extension with the Champions League runners-up early last season, tying himself to the club until 2019, and Allegri insisted the Scudetto winners had no desire to sell.

The former AC Milan coach also stressed Pogba had told him he was not actively looking to leave Juventus Stadium this summer.

“Juventus don’t need to sell Pogba,” he told Sky Sports Italia. “However, it also depends on what the player wants.

Juve won a fourth consecutive Serie A title last season and Allegri said it was important the club retained the services of Pogba and urged the former Manchester United star to continue his education in Italy.

He said: “At a club like Juventus it is easier to do it. His career is still very long. Besides, Juventus is as good as the other big European clubs.”

Juventus are currently priced 1.57 in the Serie A outright betting and quoted 17.00 to win next season’s Champions League.
