Football Bet of the Day: Sassuolo to sink Torino

Tobias Gourlay’s headed to Italy, where Torino have lost three straight Serie A matches but won’t go down without a fight this evening

In Sweden yesterday, Brage turned out to be second best. Ljungskile scored their first goal in six away games and the hosts had no answer. The visitors scored a shock 1-0 win and we’re off to Italy to recover.

Sassuolo have done good things for this column with their free-scoring, free-conceding approach to life in Serie A. They entertain Torino this evening and we fancy the hosts could edge another high scorer.

Both teams have scored in 8/10 league meetings of these two since 2016, including 4/5 at Mapei Stadium. That’s also been the case in each of Sassuolo’s first two home matches of the new season, which means 16/21 have gone that way since the start of last season.

Last term, Roberto De Zerbi’s men were a perfect W6-D0-L0 hosting the teams that finished in the bottom six. That forlorn bunch included Torino, who came home 16th and have started the new campaign with three straight defeats. It could be a long season for Moreno Longo, who has seen his side take just two points from nine road trips since he took charge.

At least Toro have scored in 6/8 away from home. We fancy Torino can score again this evening, but that it probably won’t be enough, so we’ll back Sassuolo to win while conceding in the Match Odds/Both Teams To Score market.
