The Editors’ Premier League Betting Battle 2018/19: Round 35

It’s must-win time for United

Joe Dyer
Back Manchester United @ [2.38] v Everton

A bruising night in Barcelona means it all comes down to the Premier League for Manchester United now where they are clinging on in the top four battle.

With the Manchester derby looming this away fixture at Goodison Park is a must-win and despite United’s poor form I will back them to do just that.

You can’t justify the bet on form, but the league table shows us which is the better side and Everton’s mini revival took a major knock when beaten at Fulham last time out.

The danger of missing out on Champions League qualification will surely focus minds in the Manchester United squad and the [2.38] is big enough to justify a bet.

Goals galore at the Vitality

Mike Norman
Back Over 3.5 Goals @ [2.5] in Bournemouth v Fulham
Saturday, 15:00

You might be surprised to learn that games involving Bournemouth have witnessed more goals than any other side this term. The Cherries have scored or conceded a total of 110 goal this season, that’s two more than Manchester City and… wait for it… Fulham.

So effectively this match pits together the top two Premier League teams with the highest goal involvement, so it’s little surprise that Over 3.5 Goals is trading at just [2.5].

But it’s still the bet that I like this weekend. Bournemouth still have plenty to play for with a top 10 finish very much their aim, and it seems that they either win by scoring three or four goals these days or lose by conceding three or four.

Fulham grabbed a morale-boosting win over Everton last week but they have by far the worst defensive record in the division. I can see them getting on the scoresheet at the Vitality, possibly more than once, but they are very likely to concede two or three also.

City to bounce back against depleted Spurs

Dan Thomas
Back Man City (-1) v Spurs, Leroy Sane to score and over 9.5 corners at [6.15] (Same Game Multi)
Saturday, 12:30
Live on Sky Sports Premier League

I’m sure none of us can still barely believe what happened at the Etihad on Wednesday night but the players won’t have much time to stew/celebrate (delete as appropriate) as the teams lock horns again in the early game on Saturday.

Despite losing the tie, Manchester City were fantastic on the night – from an attacking sense anyway – and it’s hard to see a hugely depleted Tottenham outfit putting up as much as a fight as they did on Wednesday, given the effort expended on the night.

I’ll take the hosts to win with a one-goal handicap, and back Leroy Sane – who will surely get a chance this weekend after only playing for a few minutes in midweek – to score as he looks to prove a point to the manager.

The final leg of my Same Game Multi is over 9.5 corners – there have been an average of 10.12 in City’s games this season, putting them top of the corners league.

City to serve cold revenge in an #OddsOnThat bet

Jasmine Baba
Man City to Win; BTTS; 3+ corners for each team & 2+ cards for each team @ 8/1 v Tottenham (#OddsOnThat)

Live on Sky Sports

Right, it’s time to go big and go home now I can’t find a winning bet at marginal prices. I think the Leicester -1 bet last week with Newcastle just crossed off me trying to gain little wins.

Now I don’t know if you’ve recovered from Wednesday’s Champions League tie between Manchester City and Tottenham, but I hope both the teams have. City will be out for revenge for Spurs dumping them out of the European competition and in the manner of which they did. So I’m definitely having a hosts win.

However they conceded so many goals, I can’t see them keeping a clean sheet here, no matter how tired or hungover Tottenham might be. So Both Teams To Score – yes.

And the others to legs on this #OddsOnThat bet, includes two cards for each team, because I’m hoping there’ll be some bad feelings over Wednesday night and also 3+ corners because both teams are so attacking and open, it just seems the right way to go.

Good luck me.

A six part Same Game Multi to dig me out of a hole

Harry Phillips
Back my crazy Same Game Multi @ 19.03
Arsenal v Crystal Palace

Sunday, 16:00

Over 2.5 Goals – We all know Arsenal aren’t afraid of a goal in either side of the pitch, with 66 scored and 40 conceded.
‘No’ both teams to score in first half – Arsenal rarely get going in the first half so expect the action to really kick-on in the second half
‘Yes’ both teams to score in second half – They’ve only kept 8 clean sheets all season.
Over 10.5 Corners – Plenty of goals brings plenty of shots and plenty of corners!
Arsenal to win – They’ve won 10 in a row at The Emirates…
Alexandre Lacazette to score – He’s looked really sharp of late and Auba started in the Europa

Harry Phillips 2018-19 P/L: -£133.00
